How much do I need? Application rates & coverage
Last reviewed July 1, 2026
Here are the application rates for every OrganiLock product in one place. For a precise amount tailored to your beds, pots, or lawn, the product calculator does the math for you.
Soil Food
- In-ground beds: about 1 lb per 50 sq ft, worked in before planting. As a guide, 2 lb covers about 100 sq ft, 6 lb about 300 sq ft, and 15 lb about 750 sq ft.
- Pots and raised beds: about 7 tablespoons per gallon of soil (roughly 2 to 3% by volume).
- Top-dressing established plants: 1 to 4 tablespoons per sq ft around the base, every 1 to 4 weeks.
Plant Food
- Mix 1/2 oz per gallon of water and apply as a foliar spray or root drench, about once a week during active growth.
Refresh (by product)
- Raised Bed Refresh: work 1/2 to 3/4 inch into the top 4 to 6 inches at season start; top-dress about 1/4 inch mid-season. A 2 cu ft bag covers about 48 sq ft; a 12 qt bag about 10 sq ft.
- Landscape Refresh: 1/2 to 3/4 inch over mulched beds, watered through. A 2 cu ft bag covers about 48 sq ft.
- Flower Pot Refresh: 1/2 to 3/4 inch mixed into the top 4 to 6 inches, or as a top-dress. A 6 qt bag refreshes about six 12-inch pots.
- House Plant Refresh: repot at 1 part Refresh to 3 parts soil, or top-dress about 1/4 inch. A 12 qt bag covers about two dozen 12-inch pots; a 6 qt bag about thirteen.
Good news on all of them: there is no real burn risk at these rates, so you don't have to be precise. Start with the guide above and adjust to your plants.
