What Soil Food is
Soil Food is OrganiLock's flagship product: a dry, whole-animal-based soil amendment and organic fertilizer, described as "Regenerative Ag In A Bag." It is made from pre-compost poultry mortality and woody biomass, processed through our patented N.I.S.T. method, with biochar and a full package of beneficial microbes built in. It is OMRI Listed for use in organic production. Applied and watered in, it wakes up a complete, self-sustaining microbial ecosystem in your soil - and healthy soil naturally feeds your plants.
Why it works
Most biological products deliver just one thing - a single microbe, or a shot of nutrients. Soil Food delivers the whole system at once:
- Beneficial microbes - endo- and ecto-mycorrhizal fungi plus beneficial Bacillus bacteria that partner with plant roots.
- Biochar - a porous, long-lasting material that holds water and nutrients and gives the microbes a home.
- A whole-animal nutrient base - a full spectrum of nutrition, not a single fractionated ingredient, so the biology has the food it needs to stay alive.
That combination is why we call Soil Food an amendment, not just a fertilizer: it builds the soil's living ecosystem instead of only feeding the plant once.
Guaranteed analysis
Soil Food's label-verified analysis is 4-2-1: 4% total nitrogen, 2% available phosphate, and 1% soluble potash, plus 2.2% calcium. Most of the nitrogen (3.6%) is slow-release, so it feeds steadily over time rather than all at once.
How to use it
- In-ground beds: work in about 1 lb per 50 sq ft before planting.
- Pots and raised beds: mix about 7 tablespoons per gallon of soil (roughly 2 to 3% by volume).
- Top-dressing established plants: 1 to 4 tablespoons per sq ft around the base, every 1 to 4 weeks.
- Compost: Soil Food also works as a compost starter.
Water in after applying so the biology activates. Because the nitrogen is mostly slow-release, Soil Food feeds gently at label rates and is not prone to burning.
